What happens when I complete my treatment?
For some patients on completing the majority of their treatment they may have the option to have self-supported management where as other patients will remain in follow up with their breast team. Your breast team will discuss this further about your follow up plan.
Reaching the end of your treatment can be a difficult time. Although you will feel relieved that your treatment is over, you may also experience a feeling of ‘what now’?
Once you have completed your initial treatment you will be invited to have:
- A treatment summary review: This is undertaken by a breast care nurse within 12 weeks of completing your treatment. You will receive an appointment to attend a clinic for an hour-long appointment.
- A health needs assessment: This can identify any concerns that you or your family may have. Your breast care nurse can then signpost you to support and advice.
- GP practice review: You may be asked to attend a review by your GP or practice nurse.
- Wellbeing event: You may be invited to attend a wellbeing event which can give you information and advice on how to move on from your breast cancer treatment.
