Your treatment summary
Everyone’s treatment will be different. Your breast team will discuss your treatment plan, what this involves and any possible side effects:
Breast surgery – this is often the first treatment and can be combined with the first phase of reconstruction.
Chemotherapy – this can be given before or after surgery. Please click here for more information.
Radiotherapy – this involves high energy x-rays given to a specific area. Please click here for more information.
Hormone therapy – are used to block the effect of the hormone oestrogen on the cancer cells. Please click here for more information.
Targeted therapy – are drugs that block the growth of the cancer cells and are often given with chemotherapy. Please click here for more information.
Bisphosphonates – are currently being discussed at a local level with a view to being introduced.
